Taking Arnica can help some of the bruising that happens following rhinoplasty. This homeopathic treatment helps to address the bruising along the eyes. Arnica can be taken up to 10 days or so after the surgery.
Another treatment for bruising is Intense Pulsed Light Therapy. An IPL treatment of the black and blue marks helps them resolve quickly. Patients are also given vitamin K starting five or six days before surgery and continue to use it four days after surgery. Vitamin K helps with the clotting that can form around the rhinoplasty area. It helps the patients so they will not bleed as much.
According to Dr. Nassif, many patients ask when it is safe to fly following rhinoplasty surgery. Some patients have to fly anywhere between a week to two weeks after their rhinoplasty. Obviously this is not recommended. I advise my patients that the earliest you can fly home would be approximately two weeks after surgery.
Patients that do need to fly a week or two following surgery want to make sure that the nose is taped and if possible, have their legs elevated during the flight. When they land, there possibly can be increased swelling of the nose due to the pressure in the airplane, but this should resolve. If the swelling becomes significantly worse, we typically put the patient on a dose of oral steroids.
How can I treat my nasolabial folds with injectables and which is the best to use? You can use Juvederm, Restylane, or Radiesse to treat the nasolabial lines that appear around the nose and mouth.
Restylane and Juvederm are hyaluronic acids, which may last approximately four to six months.
Radiesse, a biocompatable and non-allergenic gel, may last one year. Many patient like the long lasting effects of this injectable.
Injectable procedures usually take about 30 minutes, results are immediate. Some patients may have some bruising and redness after a treatment, but they typically resolve after a few days.
