I had a patient come in for a revision rhinoplasty consultation to revise a nose job that she had more than 20 years ago. She was wondering why her tip had become less defined over the years.
Many years ago rhinoplasty surgery was very aggressive and doctors often removed too much tip cartilage. Over time this can cause the tip to look like it has no definition.
Refining and definition is hard to obtain with a bossa formation, which is the cut end of the tip cartilage. Definition is only obtained in patients with thin skin.
Dr. Amron often has patient asking him if liposuction should be done before or after a tummy tuck.
Here is some advice he typically gives his patients: “I think it is better to do a tummy tuck and liposuction as separate procedures, either doing a tummy tuck first and then doing liposuction or possibly doing the liposuction, then the tummy tuck.”
“Liposuction is a wonderful procedure to do after a tummy tuck because it can be use to remove any residual fat.”
“Also, sometimes after a tummy tuck there is a scar on the lower abdomen. I find that when I am doing liposuction it is important to be aggressive just above that scar and to do it in a way to get that skin to retract and pull back so that it lays more flat in relation to the scar.”
