Francois Raven: This is your mother here talking form the operating theater. They're sucking all the fat out of my body

Doctor Amron: Good. Go ahead and put your legs a little closer together. Actually separate them just a little bit. Well you're in good shape I can see. You do work out right?

Francois Raven: Yeah. I walk a lot.

Doctor Amron: Yeah.

Francois Raven: Yeah.

Doctor Amron: And you're still not able to get rid of these areas here?

Francois Raven: No. It hasn't gone at all.

Doctor Amron: Go ahead and turn around for me. And face the wall Fran. Okay. Yeah. Definitely the hip and flank area. This is probably the most stubborn area for you right.

Francois Raven: Um-hm.

Doctor Amron: The good new is that I think you're an outstanding candidate. You are in good shape. You're really not very overweight but there are several areas that really are the areas that you've mentioned also that are quite disproportionate.

Francois Raven: Um-hm.

Doctor Amron: Good. Okay. Go and have a seat.

Francois Raven: Okay. Thank you.

Eve Michaels: Say bye-bye fat.

Francois Raven: Bye-bye fat.

[Laughter]

Doctor Amron: Okay. Any no more questions. Well let's get you to change back in your clothing and Sonia will be in just couple of minutes. Okay?

Francois Raven: Okay. That's great.

Eve Michaels: Good seeing you doctor.

Doctor Amron: Okay good seeing you too.

Francois Raven: Thank you very much. I'll see you tomorrow. Thank you for your time.

Doctor Amron: Great.

Francois Raven: Thank you.

Eve Michaels: Isn't this exciting?

Francois Raven: It is exciting now.

Female Narrator: At the end of the consultation Fran is fixed up for surgery the next day.

Doctor Nassif: Hi Fran.

Francois Raven: Hi. Good morning. Nice to see you.

Doctor Nassif: Nice to see you. Eve. Nice to see you too.

Eve Michaels: So good to see you again.

Doctor: Good to see both of you.

Francois Raven: Yeah.

Doctor Nassif: So you're gonna do a great job on her too.

Eve Michaels: Oh yes.

Doctor Nassif: All right.

Eve Michaels: I'm her fairy godmother.

Francois Raven: Mm, hmm.

Doctor Nassif: Well I'm gonna help out too. Okay. So we're talking about just a brief summary. The upper eyes, doing the upper blepharoplasty. The lower eyes were talking about what we call a lower fat repositioning. A little bit of lower face lift with a little bit of liposuction. Buckle fat removal. And then a chin-jowl implant. We'll save the best for last which is the rhinoplasty.

Francois Raven: Right. I don't like my profile and all my life I've always made sure than whenever anything's been photographs been taken of me or anything I've done no one ever sees my profile. So I've always been very very conscious of it and that's why I'm here. But also knew that if I changed the profile of my nose the rest of my face would look really strange. And that's why I've delayed it so long. But it's just this whole hook and the narrowness and this bit here and everything.

Doctor Nassif: Well we take a look at Eve I mean Eve is close to your age.

Francois Raven: Uh huh.

Eve Michaels: Same.

Doctor Nassif: Same?

Eve Michaels: What are we almost a year apart?

Francois Raven: Mm-hmm.

Doctor: And so what we did was Eve we put in a just two augment this area called a jowl implant and we also did a little lower neck lift and face lift on Eve beside of course, a rhinoplasty. And she looks very natural

Francois Raven: Very.

Doctor: She doesn't look pulled or anything else like that.

Francois Raven: No, no. Good.

Female Narrator: Why do you think that Fran is a good candidate?

Doctor Nassif: Uh Fran's a great candidate because she's always wanted to do this. And possibly didn't have the complete means to do this. And she has realistic expectations. And she knows what she wants and she mentally is prepared for this.

Female Narrator: What are the risks associated with having Extreme Makeover?

Doctor Nassif: If it's done properly it's very safe. There are situations I assume with other doctors that possibly if you do too much liposuction or too much body work possibly with the face it can cause complications. You just have to make sure you're going to a qualified board-certified surgeon that is used to doing this and knows what's safe for the patient.

Eve Michaels: In a moment you get to see what your nose will look like on the computer and it will be very very close to what you will end up having. And that is an amazing amazing experience. Are you ready for that? Doctor's preparing for you now.

[Laughter]

Francois Raven: I'm ready.

Doctor Nassif: There you can see that you have a definite improvement of the nose.

Francois Raven: My goodness. That is amazing.

Doctor Nassif: Now this is our goal. This is not a guarantee of surgery. It is our goal.

Francois Raven: Goal. Uh huh. Now looking at my profile and seeing now I understand what I didn't like. I hate that. I hate the way the nose sticks out and the chin's in. I mean that is much better than I thought it ever would be. Because I always hated the bit where it curved down and that is incredible. Absolutely incredible.

Female Narrator: After a stressful morning the relief is overwhelming. The schedule is relentless and after three hours in the dentist chair the day before it's surgery day with Dr. Amron . He wants to get rid of a liter of fat from her arms and body. First the areas of fat to be removed are marked up. Then it's time for surgery.

Female Speaker: What does it feel like?

Francois Raven: Well it's like it feels like someone's massaging me. You know deep tissue massage, that's it.

Female Speaker: So it's amazing that it's all moving so quickly. It's all happening at such a pace.

Female Narrator: Amazingly in the middle of surgery Fran asks if she can ring home.

Francois Raven: This is your mother here talking from the operating theater.

Fran's Daughter: Operating oh my God mom?

Francois Raven: Yeah.

Fran's Daughter: Wow. What's happening?

Francois Raven: They're sucking all the fat out of my body.

Fran's Daughter: Don't be too ____ skinny.

Francois Raven: I'm not going to be too skinny. Are you proud of me?

Fran's Daughter: I'm very proud of you.

Francois Raven: I love you, love you, love you.

Fran's Daughter: Love you.

Francois Raven: Very very much. Okay.

Fran's Daughter Muah.

Francois Raven: Alright darling. I have to go now. They're sucking it out of my legs alright.

Fran's Daughter: Okay.

Female Narrator: At 8:15 surgery begins. For twelve hours Dr. Nassif and his team will work on Fran's face. Changing the old one and creating a new one. First he performs an upper eye lid lift. Then he works on the fat beneath Fran's eyes. She then has liposuction to the neck to get rid of excess fat. This a chin implant made out of gortex. It's going to be fitted to improve Fan's profile. Next Dr. Nassif sets about giving Fran a lower face lift and removes excess fat from her cheeks. The surgery to Fran's nose is also designed to help improve her breathing. Finally after 12 hours of surgery Fran is reeled from the theater. The moment of truth has finally arrived.

Eve Michaels: Thank you all for being here this evening. My name is Eve Michaels and I proud to be Fran's fairy godmother. [Background conversation] Fran made a very special wish when she came to this country. And her wish was that she wanted to look in the mirror and love the reflection that she saw when she looked in it. And she wanted to beautiful. Truly beautiful. Not only inside but out. Ladies and gentleman I'm proud to present Francois Raven and show you her wish.

[Clapping, whistles and cheers]

Female Narrator: It was time for the new Fran to say a few words to the people who transformed her.

Francois Raven: Where do I start? On my wish list everybody were three things really I think to start with. I wanted to get rid of the glasses but I couldn't because I had a nose that I didn't like. I didn't like my teeth. I hated my teeth since I was 13 years of age. You gave me the teeth now that I can smile with and be proud of. But the one man here who has actually transformed my face. [Background conversation] Well I couldn't take the glasses off unless you changed it. Thank you so much for making me such a beautiful person.

[Clapping]

Francois Raven: Thank you so much. You've been so wonderful. So wonderful. Thank you.

[Laughter]

Francois Raven: Oh my God. I still thought I was okay really.

Female Narrator: I wondered how Fran's pupils would react when she returned to her job as a teacher.

Francois Raven: ____ a big deal actually. I'm actually quite nervous about it. And I'm finding all sorts of reasons in my head to delay going back. Do I go

Female Narrator: It's quite nerve-wracking. Don't you think it's quite nerve-wracking to go back to a room of 25 young girls and what are they going to think?

Francois Raven: Well the thing is, it's going to be more than 25 because I think everybody's going to be at the door when they know I'm coming in cause they've missed me so much. That's what I heard.

Female Narrator: Awww.

Francois Raven: I hope from this that the lesson has been learned that you can have your dream if you believe in it.

Female Narrator: Yeah.

Francois Raven: Really. Significantly. Really deep inside you have a dream
