Johnson introduces Dr. Nassif as a world renowned facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, considered by peers as the top rhinoplasty specialist around the world. Internationally recognized by media and print, Dr. Nassif is praised for providing consistently natural, attractive and functional aesthetic results.

Among Nassif’s impressive resume, many achievements, and philanthropic efforts, Johnson asks how Nassif became so attracted and dedicated to the field of facial plastic surgery. Nassif explains that he originally trained as an otolaryngologist (ears, nose and throat specialist) and as part of his extensive training, he had the opportunity to deal with all the vital structures of the face and neck, including facial reconstruction techniques in cancer and tumor patients. Nassif fell in love with both the artistry and functionality aspect of this type of plastic surgery. He notes that this was the part of training that excited him the most and so began his journey and life-long career.

The Anti-Gravity Facelift

Today, Nassif’s skilled artistry and talents have led him to perfect a facelift procedure popularly known as the Beverly Hills Facelift or the Anti-Gravity Facelift. By modifying the standard endoscopic mid-face lift, Dr. Nassif developed a modern day facial rejuvenation treatment that is minimally invasive and leaves no visible scarring to create a natural look with the shortest recovery time. The anti-gravity facelift utilizes a state-of-the-art gel therapy derived from the patient’s own blood cells (platelet rich plasma, or PRP) to accelerate the healing process, maintain good fat and promote collagen growth for an optimal complexion. The PRP process involves extracting the fat, spinning and purifying it to reveal the rich platelets which will then be administered through a cannula underneath the facial skin. This type of fat grafting is semi-permanent as approximately 50% of the PRP survives in the body post procedure. After incising and elevating the facial tissue during the anti-gravity lift, Dr. Nassif uses a cannula to gently distribute the healthy fat and platelet rich plasma (PRP), two essential elements that truly work to restore youthfulness to the face.

This prompted Johnson to question the hype behind the vampire facelift. Nassif explains that concentrated PRP is utilized in this treatment, as well. A combination of filler and PRP gives instant and long-lasting results in the vampire facelift. The filler provides immediate benefits while PRP simultaneously builds collagens and adds volume. Nassif notes that fat can be harvested from many areas of the body and injected into the superficial layers of skin, for example, common facelift areas like the forehead, eyebrows, under-eye area and cheeks. Dr. Nassif goes on to talk about micro needling – a newer rejuvenation procedure that utilizes a facial device with rapid rate turning needles to create micro holes in the face. Again, PRP is delivered into the face through these tiny holes to stimulate collage, soften wrinkles and promote overall smoother, younger looking skin. Although this is most often considered a plasma delivery system, patients have multiple product/filler options.

Rhinoplasty Specialist

In regards to rhinoplasty, specifically, Nassif states that we live in a melting pot of ethnicities, where patients of all backgrounds are seeking to soften ethnicity, but not really westernize their look. Ethnic patients want to refine their ethnic looking nose, but not create an artificial, unnatural-looking nose. An interesting fact: Nassif underwent his first rhinoplasty procedure at age 17, making him both a surgeon and a patient, and just last year he received another rhinoplasty surgery after his son jumped on his nose, leaving it asymmetrical.

Nassif engaged listeners on another hot topic: stem cell treatment. He recognizes and appreciates that technology is evolving every year, and predicts that in the next five years or so stem cell preservation and procedures will become a mainstream medical affair. In his practice, for example, liposuction procedures remove fat which undergoes a purifying process, leaving behind young, viable fat cells. Any extra fat cells after harvesting can be stored for second stage procedures. Even more important, however, these cells can be cryogenically preserved with the hope of treating future medical diseases such as cancer.

Body Dysmporphia

Radio show co-host Dr. Estella Sneider had the benefit of sharing her own personal experience as a patient of Dr. Nassif’s for a facelift procedure that originally aired on Bravo network’s popular television series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Dr. Sneider attests to how talented, dedicated, sophisticated and professional Dr. Nassif is, both in and out of the operating room. As a psychologist, Dr. Sneider conducts mental health evaluations on patients electing plastic surgery to make sure that they are doing it for the right reasons. Dr. Nassif admitted that he declines about seven percent of patient requests per year due to individuals afflicted with body dysmorphic disorder. Dr. Sneider explains that body dysmorphia is a type of mental disorder connected with OCD wherein the individual is obsessed and/or paranoid about a portion of the body, usually the face, and fears that others are negatively judging them which can lead to paranoid traits. Even after a cosmetic surgery, body dysmorphia sufferers will likely be dissatisfied with their appearance and the need for further surgery can turn into an unhealthy obsession with unrealistic expectations.

Dr. Estella asked Dr. Nassif to speak to the science behind today’s common injectables, Botox and Dysport – a familiar facial rejuvenating treatment that Dr. Nassif states involves the injection of neuromodulators to temporarily paralyze or weaken targeted facial muscles, ultimately preventing creasing and further wrinkling. Dr. Nassif prefers the injectable filler Dysport because it provides a faster onset of action with longer lasting results. Dr. Nassif concludes by encouraging prospective patients to always seek out an experienced injector, or board certified facial plastic surgeon by researching doctor qualifications, reading patient reviews and evaluating before and after photos.

Dr. Nassif Appears on John Johnson’s Talk Radio LIVE Today with Co-Host Dr. Estella Sneider On Monday, July 15, 2013, radio talk show host John Johnson along with co-host Dr. Estella Sneider welcomed Dr. Nassif in an exclusive radio show interview to discuss some of the latest trends in facial plastic surgery, including Nassif’s very … Continue reading Dr. Nassif on John Johnson’s Talk Radio LIVE →

[1

post-16643","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
