Bruising after two month of blepharoplasty recovery
Posted December 20, 2011 11:15 AM in Blepharoplasty
by DR. PAUL S. NASSIF

Question:
I had blepharoplasty nearly two months ago and I still have horrible bruises beneath my eyes. Is this normal? When should they be gone and what can I do in the meantime?

Answer:

Some bruising and swelling after eyelid surgery will be present because the eye area is extremely delicate. The more involved your blepharoplasty surgery was, the more bruising you may experience. The amount of time bruising lasts varies among individuals and it can last up to two to three months. It is important to be patient following your surgery, as the final result will not be evident for some time. Thank you and I hope this helps.

Will fatty tissue in my face affect my facelift?

Question:
I hold some weight in my face. Will a skin-only facelift be sufficient or should my muscles also be manipulated?

Answer:

Elevating only the skin will provide a very temporary correction. Appropriate elevation of the layer underlying and supporting the skin, called the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) is necessary for long-term correction.

Will my facelift scars stop growing hair?

Question:
Is there a chance that I will experience hair loss at the site of the incisions for my facelift?

Answer:

Hair loss following facelift surgery may result on occasion due to a poor scar. I design my incisions to be nearly invisible when healed, and hidden within the hairlines without hairloss.
