Question:
I have recently had an accident which was two months ago and have a very nasty scar on my face. Should I come in for a consultation about this now or should I wait for it to heal more?
Answer:
It is okay for you to come for a consultation and have the scar evaluated now. Thank you and I hope this helps answer your question. If you wish to send photos, please send them to Lisa, my Patient Care Coordinator at ana@spaldingplasticsurgery.com.
Question:
I am 52 with really horrible lines going from the sides of my nose to the sides of my mouth. What is the best filler for fixing these?
Answer:
Thank you very much for this question. These smile lines are called the nasolabial folds. There are multiple fillers you can use. One of my favorite fillers is a product called Radiesse which is hydroxylapatite. Hydroxylapatite or Radiesse is an injectable that can last more than a year. This is one of the fillers that I like. Also there are multiple products called hyaluronic acids. Juvederm Ultra Plus or Perlane are good products for this use. They can last anywhere between six months and a year. In general, if the patient gave me a choice of what to use, I would use the Radiesse.

Rhinoplasty fellowships are so valuable. “Some of the needed experience and potential pitfalls are circumvented by first hand observing and learning the analysis, judgment, techniques, complication management and most importantly, results from a seasoned rhinoplasty surgeon. This is why I super-specialized in rhinoplasty surgery during my fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery,” says Dr. Nassif.
Start preparing your skin for surgery by using sunscreen and topical products such as Retin-A or glycolic acids as well as having micro-dermabrasion. The goal is to get the skin ready for surgery and the better the elasticity before surgery, even if it is through the use of topical products or intense pulse-light treatments before the procedure, the better the result would be. Spalding Drive offers a full range of skin care services for our patients.

There will be some swelling and bruising after facelift surgery, this is unavoidable. We tell patients to use cold compresses to minimize swelling. A short course of post-operative antibiotics and steroids are prescribed to help prevent infection and excess swelling.
