What Can Thermage Do For You

What Can Thermage Do For You?

What Can Thermage Do For You?

The condition of your skin is one of the most telling indicators of age throughout your entire body. When you are young and healthy, your skin is smooth, firm, tight, and flexible. You have high levels of collagen and other proteins in your skin that maintain its structure and a healthy function. Maintaining a high level of collagen is important in maintaining a young and healthy appearance. Unfortunately, your body produces less and less collagen over the years until it can’t keep up with the levels your skin needs. This results in the changes in your skin like a decrease in firmness or tightness and wrinkles. These changes are hard to improve once they’ve started and give you an older appearance over time.

There are many surgical and nonsurgical ways to improve the look of your skin in your face and your body. For your face, the surgical procedures include a facelift, brow lift, and eye lift. The nonsurgical procedures include things like dermal fillers, injectables like Botox or Dysport, and fat transfer injections. For your body, there are surgical procedures like tummy tucks and thigh lifts. There are also nonsurgical procedures that will improve your skin around your body. One of those procedures is the Thermage body treatment.

What is the Thermage Treatment?

The goal with nonsurgical body procedures is to improve the body’s appearance without using incisions or making dramatic changes. Thermage accomplishes this by using radio frequency energy. Radio frequency has been used in the medical field for decades to treat certain conditions and in MRI technology. Thermage uses the energy to target the skin itself.

How Does The Technology Work?

The radio frequency energy waves are directed into the skin with gentle pulses. The energy penetrates far enough to reach the deep layers of skin responsible for creating new skin cells and keeping the tissue healthy. The skin tissue heats from the increase in energy, which stimulates collagen production and remodels the existing proteins to give them more structure. This boost in collagen levels allows your skin to be treated from the inside out without requiring synthetic collagen or surgical changes to your skin.

What Kind of Results Should You Expect?

Because Thermage increases your levels of collagen, your skin will start to regain a more youthful appearance. It will become smoother, tighter, and function better. The texture and tone of your skin will also be improved, which are important factors in healthy skin.

You won’t see these results overnight because the external layers of skin are not affected by the treatment. However, as your deep tissue layers begin to improve, the surface layers will also begin to improve. Over the course of a few months, you will see a noticeable difference in the way your skin looks and feels. Because the changes to your skin are made at the most internal layers, these changes will last for a long time, even years.

What Happens During the Procedure?

A handheld device is placed against your skin at strategic spots around the area you want to improve. The device first applies cooling energy to the exterior of your skin to make you feel more comfortable and to protect your skin from the radio frequency energy. The energy is then sent into your skin with gentle pulses that feel like small vibrations against your body. After the device has been held against your skin for an appropriate amount of time, the technician moves on to the next spot and repeats the procedure.

Once your skin has been treated, you’ll be able to leave the doctor’s office. The whole process can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the size of the area that needs to be treated.

Where Can Thermage Be Used?

Thermage can be applied all over your body as well as on your face, neck, and around your eyes. It can be used to reduce the appearance of cellulite, wrinkles, love handles, and loose skin around your body. It can even be used to improve the condition of your skin after pregnancy. Thermage can treat jowls or sagging skin around your face and neck, smooth lines and wrinkles, and improve collagen levels. Around your eyes, Thermage can be used on your upper and lower eyelids to address hooded eyes as well as wrinkles.

How Do I Know If Thermage Will Work For Me?

Ideal candidates for Thermage body treatments are people who have loose skin or wrinkles around their body, face, or eyes. Thermage can’t treat everything, and if your loose skin or wrinkles are extensive, you may want to consider other options. However, if you are in good overall health and you would like to make improvements to the look of your skin, the best place to start is to consult a plastic surgeon.

When you make a consultation, it’s an opportunity for the plastic surgeon to physically examine the condition of your skin and determine where your problem areas are. You will also be able to share any concerns you have about your skin so the doctor can understand what your goals are. Your doctor can then use all this information to determine if you are a good candidate for Thermage. They may also recommend other procedures that can help you reach your goals and get maximum results.
