Five Areas Face Benefit Fat Transfers

Five Areas of the Face that Benefit from Fat Transfers

For people who don’t want surgery, facial fat transfers are an excellent alternative. They provide amazing results that mimic those from surgical procedures, plus they have a number of advantages over other similar procedures. There are several different areas of the face that can benefit from fat transfers, including the nose, mouth, and eyes.

The Nose

Throughout a person’s lifetime, the nose can become dented or slightly crooked. Healing from injuries, irregular growing patterns, or simple bumps can cause a nose to look less than perfect. These minor imperfections don’t always need nose surgery (rhinoplasty) to be corrected; sometimes, fat deposits can be used to smooth out the nose through a few minor injections. This technique is also known as nonsurgical rhinoplasty.

The Mouth

Your mouth is an area that doesn’t always get a lot of consideration, but it can be a significant indicator of age. The mouth is a very active area of the face, which makes it vulnerable to deep wrinkles and loose skin as you get older. Fat transfers can be placed at the corners of the mouth to smooth out wrinkles and provide a little extra volume to the skin in that area.

The Eyes

Like your mouth, the eyes are also an active area of the face. They are also prone to signs of aging because the skin is especially thin here. The muscles around your eyes cause wrinkles to form at the corners (also known as crow’s feet). Bags also form under your eyes as your skin starts to sag. Fat injections can replace the volume under your eyes to make the bags less visible and improve the look of wrinkles at the corners of your eyes.

The Chin

People with weak chins have low definition and contouring in the lower half of their face. For people with severely weak chins, an implant will be more beneficial. For people who don’t have as great of a problem or are looking for alternatives to surgery, fat transfers can be used to add volume to the chin. This improves the projection of the chin without a surgical augmentation and adds more character to the face.

The Cheeks

Similar to the chin, the cheeks provide contour and definition to the face. Cheeks tend to lose volume with age, causing the face to look hollow or flat. Adding fat deposits to the cheeks increases the volume to make the cheeks more defined.

Why Fat Transfers?

There are surgical alternatives to every single one of these areas. Eye lifts, chin/cheek augmentations, and facelifts can accomplish similar results. So why choose fat transfers?

Fat transfers are nonsurgical and use natural materials from the patient’s own body. This presents a lower risk to the patient with less downtime and less cost. The results of fat transfers are less permanent than surgery, but they make an acceptable alternative and can even preview the results of a surgical procedure.
