Hair Transplant Procedures Temporary Permanent

Are Hair Transplant Procedures Temporary or Permanent?

Hair loss is one of the unfortunate side effects of aging that affects both men and women.  There are different causes of hair loss, including:

  • Poor hair care
  • Brittle hair
  • Decreased hair growth
  • Protein or vitamin deficiency
  • Conditions like anemia or thyroid disease
  • Chemotherapy for diseases or cancer
  • Alopecia areata, which is an autoimmune condition that destroys hair follicles in localized area

Hair loss can be a source of insecurity for many people, especially since hair loss can spread throughout your scalp as you continue to age. There are medications and prescription creams that can improve hair loss, but a hair transplant procedure is one of the best ways to ensure positive long-term results.

NeoGraft

At Spalding Drive Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, CA, we use NeoGraft as a hair replacement procedure. NeoGraft is the most advanced form of hair transplantation available on the market. Unlike other hair replacement procedures, this doesn’t involve incisions, stitches, or painful hair extraction. One apparatus is used for the entire procedure, from extraction to transplantation.

How It Works

The NeoGraft uses the technique of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) throughout the procedure. The procedure starts by extracting the hair follicles one at a time. The follicles are harvested from a donor area, typically the sides or back of the head. As the hair follicles are harvested, they are collected within the NeoGraft apparatus. Since the follicles are harvested one at a time, the technician can monitor the total amount of follicles collected to ensure that the appropriate amount is harvested. It’s important that the right amount of hair is transplanted to keep hair growth even across your scalp.

After the hair follicles have been extracted, they are transplanted using the same apparatus. The apparatus individually places each hair follicle into the scalp, which allows for accurate and appropriate mapping of the follicles. Once the follicles are transplanted, they will take root within your scalp and begin to grow there naturally.

The transplanted hair follicles include both the hair shaft and the hair root. After about two or three weeks, the hair shaft will fall out, but the hair root will remain. Over time, new hair will begin to grow naturally from the root to replace the hair that was lost prior to the procedure. This new hair growth will be a long-term solution to your hair loss problems as long as you take care of your hair, scalp, and overall health.

Are You a Candidate for Hair Replacement?

For NeoGraft to be successful, the patient has to have areas of dense hair growth with sufficient hair to serve as donor hair. If you have very thin hair or no hair, NeoGraft won’t work for you. Mild to moderate hair loss is the best situation for a patient to consider a hair replacement procedure.

NeoGraft isn’t just for replacing hair on the scalp, either; it can also be used on other areas of the body, including the arms, legs, and chest.

If you are currently struggling with mild to moderate hair loss and want to find a long-term solution, consider scheduling a patient consultation for NeoGraft at Spalding Drive Plastic Surgery. Consultations can be made by calling (310) 275-2467 or by sending your information to us through the Contact page.
