Make Eyes Younger Brighter Blepharoplasty

Make Your Eyes Younger and Brighter with Blepharoplasty

Getting Your Eyelift SurgeryThere are many parts of your face that are affected by age – forehead, mouth, even your cheeks. The eyes are an area where age first begins to make an appearance. Over time, your eyes can look tired, dull, puffy, and even droopy. Blepharoplasty, commonly known as an eye lift, can make your eyes look younger and brighter to fight those signs of aging.

How Your Eyes Age

Aging has a lot to do with the structure of your skin. Your skin needs hydration and important fibers to stay firm and flexible. Your body naturally produces the components and chemicals needed to keep your skin young and healthy, but as you get older, the production slows down. Your skin starts to wrinkle and loosen up. The skin around your eyes is much thinner than other areas of your face, which means that it ages sooner than other areas.

Wrinkles are usually one of the first signs of aging because there are several muscles around your eyes that help create your expressions. These muscles contract over and over again, causing your skin to crease. As you get older, those creases become more permanent and change into wrinkles. Because your skin becomes looser around your face, fat deposits start to move downward. This fat can settle above your eyes, causing your eyebrows or upper eyelid to become droopy; it can settle underneath your eyes, causing your eyes to look puffy; it can also just move away from your eyes, causing them to look hollow in their sockets.

How your eyes age depends a great deal on you, your genetics, and how you take care of your skin. Some people have eyes that develop wrinkles while others have eyes that become puffy. Some people might go the opposite direction and have eyes that look hollow. People who take good care of their skin may develop signs of aging later than people who don’t take very good care of their skin. Generally speaking, your eyes may start to look older around your 40s.

How an Eye Lift Improves Your Eyes

Like with aging, eye lift surgery is based on the individual. An eye lift can do several different things to improve the look of your eyes, but you might not need everything that the surgery offers. Here are some of the things an eye lift can do:

  • Smooth out wrinkles and reduce their appearance
  • Reposition fat deposits around your eyes
  • Remove any fat deposits that make your eyes look puffy
  • Lift the skin around your eyes so that it is tighter and younger-looking

Blepharoplasty surgeons can accomplish these goals using a couple different techniques, depending on what your eyes need. For example, the incisions can be made at your hairline, at or inside your lower eyelid, or at the crease in your upper eyelid. From the incisions, the surgeon can move around your fatty deposits and repair your muscles if necessary. Your skin can then be lifted and secured to the original incision with sutures. Any excess skin tissue can also be trimmed away if needed.  Once your eyes heal, they will look healthier and brighter.

You may need only one of these fixes or maybe you need all of them. Whatever your eyes need, eye lift surgery can help improve their appearance to give you a more youthful appearance.

Choosing Your Blepharoplasty Surgeon

Every patient’s eyes are different, so every eye lift surgery is a little bit different. What works for you may not work for someone else. That’s why it’s important for you to see a plastic surgeon who understands what makes each face unique and can preserve your individuality.

Dr. Paul Nassif is a world-renowned board certified plastic surgeon with a deep insight into the human face and how each patient’s face is unique. He has been a plastic surgeon for more than twenty years and has had his expertise featured on several different television programs, including his own show on E! Network, “Botched”.
