Procedures Consider Mommy Makeover

Which Procedures Should I Consider For My Mommy Makeover?

Which Procedures Should I Consider For My Mommy Makeover?

Dealing with your post-pregnancy body can be physically and emotionally draining. After carrying your child for 40 weeks, breastfeeding, caring for an infant, and running around after a toddler, it’s no wonder that moms everywhere struggle to regain their pre-pregnancy bodies. It can take years for some women to even get back to their old dress size.

Thankfully, getting back your pre-pregnancy body no longer requires you to spend hours upon hours at the gym or to give up time with your family. The Mommy Makeover is a popular combination plastic surgery that has helped thousands of moms look as good or even better than they did before their pregnancy.

It can be hard to know which procedures to consider for your Mommy Makeover when your whole body feels out of whack. There are a number of different options to choose from, including procedures to improve your breasts and tummy. Understanding what each procedure can do for you will help you make an educated decision about what you want for your Mommy Makeover.

Procedures Used in a Mommy Makeover

You might find it easiest to look at procedures designed for your upper body versus those designed for your lower body. The upper body can be everything above your abdomen and the lower body can be everything from your abdomen down.

The Upper Body

One of the most obvious areas of the upper body that needs attention after pregnancy is the breasts. Breasts are affected by pregnancy in different ways. Some become overly large due to hormones and breast feeding while other become a little deflated once you’ve stopped breastfeeding. Women who get Mommy Makeovers usually get a breast reduction or a breast augmentation/lift procedure to get their breasts back to a normal, proportional size.

Other areas of the upper body that can be affected by pregnancy include the neck and arms. As your body goes through pregnancy, you might experience weight gain or stretch marks in areas other than your abdomen. These spots are prime real estate for fatty deposits to settle and build over time. In your neck, that spot is usually around or under your chin, giving you a double-chin effect. Around your arms, the fat typically settles on the underside of your arm around your bicep. A neck lift or an arm lift will remove the deposits from their respective areas and tighten up your skin so that you have better toning and contouring.

The Lower Body

Obviously, this half of your body becomes a primary concern during and after your pregnancy. Stretch marks and extra fat around your middle and legs make it hard for you to fit back into your old clothes or even just feel confident about your figure. One of the most common procedures used in the Mommy Makeover is the tummy tuck, which helps to tighten and flatten your belly. Extra fat and skin tissue is removed to smooth out your abdomen, reducing the appearance of stretch marks and giving you a toned tummy. A thigh lift can accomplish similar results with your legs to smooth them out and give them a fitter appearance.

Some women are able to get their pre-pregnancy bodies back relatively well, but maybe they struggle with a little extra fat here and there. Fat removal procedures like liposuction will take care of those areas to give you little touch-ups here and there to give your body better contouring. Liposuction can be used in different areas all over the body, too, not just in the lower half.

It Doesn’t Stop There!

The beautiful thing about a Mommy Makeover is that it can be anything you want it. What gives the procedure its name is the combination of individual procedures. These procedures can be any of the ones listed above and include other surgical procedures, such as a facelift or an eyelift. Nonsurgical procedures can be included in this, too, such as dermal fillers and injectables like Botox. The key is that you are getting multiple procedures to help you get your body back after pregnancy.

So how do you choose which procedures you need? After reading this, you might already have an idea of what you’d like to change about your post-pregnancy body. And even if you don’t, that’s completely normal. A lot of women wish they could change something about their bodies but don’t know the best way to do it. Whether you know exactly what you want or haven’t the faintest idea, a patient consultation is the first place to start.
