Meet Kybella Solution Double Chin Fat

Meet Kybella: Your Solution to Double Chin Fat

Meet Kybella: Your Solution to Double-Chin Fat

What Is Kybella?

Your body naturally produces a chemical called deoxycholic acid, which helps you break down fat cells for energy. This chemical is important in eliminating fat from your body, but it doesn’t always produce enough to get rid of fat in places where you need it most. Areas like your chin can be especially difficult for the acid to reach effectively.

Kybella is an injection that is a concentrated form of deoxycholic acid that can specifically target the fat under your chin. When too much fat accumulates under your chin, you develop a double chin and look heavier.

The Kybella Procedure

Kybella injections are administered in a similar way to other injectables. Each session involves a series of injections that are placed underneath your chin so that the acid is spread evenly throughout the area. The doctor will clean and prep your chin before performing the injections. This may include a topical anesthetic or a slight numbing agent. After the injections have been administered, you’ll be able to leave the office right away. This whole process only takes about 30 minutes for the entire session. After your Kybella session, your skin might be red and a little sore. This won’t last long, so if it does occur you won’t need to worry.

Most patients need more than one session to get the maximum results. The acid is extremely effective, but the amount of acid used in one session is typically not enough to burn away all the excess fat under your chin. Some patients only need two sessions, others may need more. It just depends on how effective each treatment is for you and the amount of fat that needs to be removed.

Your Kybella Injection Results

The acid in the Kybella injections takes some time to break down the fat cells and then your body has to flush the cell fragments away from your chin and out of your system, so it will be a while before you see results. As your body breaks down the fat, you will slowly start to notice your chin getting slimmer with more definition seen around your jaw bone. This will become more apparent with each additional session of Kybella injections.

How to Know if Kybella is an Option for You

Kybella injections are currently FDA-approved for the area under your chin. They can’t be applied anywhere else yet, so if a double chin is not your problem, then Kybella isn’t right for you. Kybella is not a weight loss solution or a treatment for obesity. If you are pregnant or nursing, have a blood clot disorder, or have recently had surgery around your chin or neck, Kybella is generally not recommended for you. You may have other options available to you, which you can discuss with your plastic surgeon.

However, if you have a moderate or severe amount of excess fat underneath your chin, if you struggle with having a double chin that makes you look heavy, or if you want better contouring around your neck and jaw, then Kybella could be a great option for you. An ideal candidate for Kybella is someone who is generally healthy but has stubborn fat deposits located underneath their chin.
